PPAL Coil Sheet

PPAL (Pre-Painted Aluminum) refers to aluminum coils or sheets featuring a coating cured through a continuous roll-coating process. As an integrated engineering material, it combines the lightweight and corrosion-resistant properties of aluminum with the decorative and protective qualities of the coating. Leveraging in-house substrate production capabilities and fully automated "two-coat, two-bake" production lines, HC Aluminum offers a comprehensive range of PPAL coil sheet products. We serve clients across sectors such as architecture, home appliances, and industrial cladding, delivering consistent coating quality, precise dimensional control, and flexible customization options.

Substrate options of PPAL coil include mainstream alloy grades such as 1060, 3003, 3105, and 5052, available in various tempers (O, H14, H24, H32, etc.). Thickness ranges from 0.2mm to 3.0mm, and widths can be customized between 600mm and 1600mm to suit specific forming and strength requirements. The coating system comprises four grades: Standard Polyester (PE)—offering excellent cost-performance with a dry film thickness of 18–25μm on the front and 5–10μm on the back; Silicone Modified Polyester (SMP)—featuring 20–25μm front-side coating and superior UV resistance compared to standard PE; Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF)—featuring 20–28μm front-side coating with ≥70% fluorine content, suitable for extreme outdoor environments; and Epoxy coatings—designed for chemical corrosion resistance in specialized industrial applications. Delivery formats include coils and cut-to-length sheets; standard coil inner diameter is 508mm, with customizable weights of 1–5 tons, and optional PE protective film is available to prevent surface scratches during transport.

HC prepainted aluminum coil products utilize a chromium-free passivation pretreatment process to form a dense conversion coating (0.8–1.2 μm). They achieve an ASTM D3359 Class 0 rating for adhesion, showing no detachment in cross-hatch tests, and pass 0T-bend tests without cracking or peeling during subsequent stamping or roll-forming. PPAL coil offer superior weather resistance: PE coatings withstand ≥800 hours of neutral salt spray without blistering and show a color difference (ΔE) ≤1.0 after 1,000 hours of QUV accelerated aging; PVDF coatings withstand ≥3,000 hours of salt spray and 4,000 hours of artificial accelerated weathering with ΔE ≤0.5, offering a color retention lifespan of 15–20 years. Years of export experience reveal that some low-cost market alternatives cut corners on pretreatment and coating thickness; while initial appearance differences are negligible, issues like edge peeling and chalking often emerge within 3–5 years. In contrast, our prepainted aluminum sheet products undergo strict film thickness uniformity control—limiting intra-batch thickness deviation to ≤2 μm—to effectively mitigate the risk of premature failure.

We offer application-specific solutions tailored to regional climatic conditions. For architectural curtain walls and roofing, we prioritize PVDF coatings on 3003-H24 aluminum—ideal for high-UV, high-temperature regions like the Middle East and Australia—ensuring long-term color stability and adhesion. For home appliance panels and interior décor, we typically use PE coatings on 1060-H14 aluminum; these offer rich colors and excellent formability, with customization available across the full RAL color spectrum. For industrial facility envelopes and coastal installations, we recommend 3105-H24 aluminum featuring an epoxy primer and PVDF topcoat, providing superior salt spray and chemical resistance. We also offer antimicrobial coatings for cleanroom environments to meet specialized requirements.
